President Nathan M. Pusey formally dedicated the modern Gordon McKay Laboratory in the foyer of the million-dollar structure at noon yesterday.
James R. Killian, president of M.I.T., and five Gordon McKay Professors in various science fields here also spoke at the ceremony. The exercises began in the adjacent Pierce Hall before moving to the new building.
The laboratory houses part of the basic research of the Division of Applied Science of the University, which includes the fields of Applied Mathematics, Aplied Physics, and Engineering. The east and west sides of the new laboratory are made of squares of clear plate glass.
