All Army Seniors Expected to Gain Lieutenant's Bars

Army ROTC seniors at the College yesterday received confirmation of the government's promise that all would receive second lieutenant commissions. At the same time, 35 less fortunate Air Force ROTC seniors learned they must indicate by today whether or not they will accept the alternate commission plan offered by the Air Force last Friday.

The Air Force Commission agreement calls for six years' service with the Air National Guard with active service in the Air Force for not more than three of these years. The students will be called up in quarterly groups beginning in August but are not entitled to GI benefits or the G.I. Bill.

It is not known how many of the 4800 Air Force ROTC seniors throughout the country will accept the offer. Indications are that approximately 15 of the 35 seniors at the College will accept the plan.

The Army said it will call virtually all of its 16,000 ROTC graduates this year.
