Both the varsity and freshman track teams scored easy triumphs in their final dual meets of the year against Dartmouth at Hanover Saturday. The varsity won 03 to 47; the Yardlings, 95 to 45.
For Coach Bill McCurdy, the meet went as he had expected. Even with stars Dave Alpers, Alan Howe, and Al Wills out with illnesses, the Crimson romped to victory. Peter Dow and Art Siler led the varsity with double victories.
Dow, fourth place finisher in the Heptagonal 100 last week, took both the 100 and 220 yard dashes. Since the condition of the track was quite poor, there were no exceptional times.
Siler was first in the discus throw and the shot put. In the former event the Crimson swept all three places. Other winners for the varsity included Warren Little in the 440; Ed Carter in the 220 low hurdles; Hal Gerry in the two mile; Peto Morrison in the javelin; and the mile relay.
Bob Rittenburg, switching his distances Saturday, finished second in the 440 to Little, and ran third log in the mile relay. He also took third in the broad jump. Rittenburg usually runs the hurdles.
These meets practically end the Crimson's track season. There is a possibility some runners may enter the IC4A meet in New York Saturday if their exam schedules permit.
