History has become the most popular field of concentration with the freshman class, Register Sargent Kennedy '28 announced yesterday. Rising from third place last year in the list of field preferences, History increased from 117 to 132 students.
Government, which was high in first place last year with 194, dropped sharply to 129. English in third place now, increased from 80 to 121, while Economics, next in popularity, dropped from 126 to 104.
Seventy-four freshmen have applied in the field of Social Relations, 68 in Applied Sciences; 63, Biology; 56, Chemistry; 47, Biochemistry; 44, Physics; and 42 in History and Literature.
