'Green Feather' Asks Recognition

An undergraduate organization aimed at recalling Senator McCarthy may be formed by Monday. The group is an offshoot of the Green Feather movement started in the mid-West.

Stephen S. Willoughby '53, 1G. Ed., a leading organizer of the group, said last night that the unprecedented request for immediate recognition of the new group is necessary in order that the group may distribute Green-Feather buttons in the dining halls next Tuesday.

Willoughby said there were many faculty members willing to lend their support to the group.

The Green Feather movement started at the University of Indiana early this spring when a textbook commissioner tried to ban "Robin Hood" as subversive. A group of people adopted the green feather of Robin Hood as their symbol and soon attempted to bust McCarthy.

Willoughby stated that if recognition is not gained by Monday, the buttons would be distributed through the House newsstands or with the sponsorship of the Liberal Union.
