Yardling Tennis Team Defeats Milton, 7 to 2

The freshman tennis squad took five of the six singles and two of three doubles matches to defeat Milton Academy yesterday, 7 to 2. The Yardlings meet Dartmouth here today at 2 p.m.

Captain Steve Gottleib scored 6-0, 6-1 at the first singles position, while Cal Place, Doug Gardner, Barry Boehm, Dave Terris, and Charlie Edwards also won for the freshmen. Second man Hen Heckscher was the only singles loser. He was defeated 6-3, 6-3.

In the first doubles match, Boehm and Gottleib won a close three-set match, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. The third doubles team of Grayson Murphy and Charlie MacVaegh also won. Hank Holmes and Phil Mills lost the second doubles, 8-6, 3-6, 6-0.

Yesterday's victory was the fourth straight for the Yardlings. They lost their opener to Exeter.
