Conant to Leave U.S. This Friday for Bonn; Will Visit Here First

President Emeritus James B. Conant '14 reported to President Eisenhower yesterday and then announced he will return Friday to his post as United States High Commissioner for West Germany.

Conant will visit the University sometime before he leaves the country, however, according to an announcement made last week.

The former President's visit here will conclude a two-week stay in the United States. He said yesterday that he returned primarily to testify before Congressional committees, but presumably he also appeared at the loyalty hearing of atomic scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer '26.

Leaving the White House yesterday, Conant said that West Germany is getting along free economically and that the political situation there is stable.
