Nine N.E. Schools Entered In Relay Carnival At 1:30

Harvard will probably be watching from the outside this afternoon. When Yale and Boston University-the two top track teams in the East this winter-vie for honors in the first annual New England Relays. The first race will start at 1:30 in Soldiers Field.

In addition to these three teams, squads representing Brown, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, M.I.T., Rhode Island, and Tufts will be entered. There will be no official team winner; there will only be individual trophy winners.

Last winter Yale, led by a host of strong middle distance runners, and a group of powerful field event men, edged a surprisingly good B.U. squad by a half a point to win the IC4A title.

Although there will not be any individual races, many of the top runners in the East will compete on relay teams today. Included among the top entries are Mike Stanley, Ross Price, John Meader, Stu Thompson, Henry Thresher, Yale; Billy Smith, Bill Scherer, Nat Baker, Bruce Hescock, Dick Bates, B.U.; Dave Alpers, Hal Gerry, Renny Little, Harvard.

The outstanding races today should be the mile relay, two mile relay, and both sprint relays. The Crimson has a very good chance of winning the mile relay.
