Crimson sailors travel around southern New England this weekend competing against everyone from Notre Dame to Abbot Academy.
One squad of varsity sailors journey to Providence today for a dual meet with Brown. Four boats, each with skipper and crew, will be competing. This same squad will sail at New London in a quadrangular meeting with M.I.T., Coast Guard, and Brown on Sunday.
Another group, four men in two boats, will be co-favored with M.I.T. this afternoon in the 12-team Boston Dinghy Club regatta on the Charles. Other entrants are Yale, GcGill, Syracuse, Amherst, Notre Dame, and George Washington.
It is the freshmen who get to sail with the ladies. Wheaton College, as well as Abbot, will take part in an Undecagonal meet at Wakefield with the Yardlings and eight other teams. Bill Henry, Mike Kenney, Pete Luster, and Tim Townsend are the freshman skippers.
Leaders of the varsity squad, which last weekend won the Boston Area championship over M.I.T. and four other colleges, are Yacht Club Commodores Fred Hoppin, Tim Brown, and Jim Nathanson.
