Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
After the Princeton match, varsity golf coach John Williams predicted that "the golf team will round into shape sometime this week."
It did yesterday when the golfers trouced Boston University, 6 to 1, every man on the seven man team shot a 76 or under.
playing at the Dedham, Country Club, the Crimson's number one man, Ted Cooney, whipped B.U.'s Leo Mullin 5 and 4, and carded a 69 in his match. Sophomore Bill McAllister, won 4 and 3, shooting a 74.
Number three man Jim Jones and Captain and fifth man, Jack Brophy, both shot 72's defeating their opponents easily.
Cooney's roomate, Bruce Thurmond, playing in the number 4 position, turned in a 71 to win his match 4 and 3. And Doug Boyd followed up shooting a 75. Boyd's 75 was good enough to edge his opponent 7 and 6.
Pete Malkin was the varsity's only loser yesterday. Malkin posted a 76, but lost, one down, on the 18th hole.
The golfers play their third match of the week at Dedham when they face Bowdoin College today. In last year's contest the varsity polished off Bowdoin without any trouble. The match will be played at 2 p.m. On Saturday, the golf team travels to Middletown. Conn, to face Wesleyan.
Although Williams will probably play the same seven men who played against B.U. yesterday, team members are still playing challenge rounds for starting positions.
