Director John Burrell Gives Theater Lecture

John Burrell, leading British producer and director who staged "Peter Pan" on Broadway several years ago, will deliver the annual Theodore Spencer Memorial Lecture in New Lecture Hall at 4 p.m. today.

Burrell is known primarily for his work during World War II, when he was Drama Director of the B.B.C. for three years where he produced such radio broadcasts as Don Quixote and The Pilgrim's Progress. He then became co-director of the Old Vic, virtually England's national theater, with Ralph Richardson and Laurence Olivier. While there he directed many successful classical plays.

Former Spencer lectures on theater topics include Arthur Miller, Elia Kazan, and T. S. Eliot '09.
