Dudley House sent two more representatives to the finals as a result of last night's inter-House boxing tournament conducted at the IAB. With a total of five finalists, the Commuters loom as a heavy favorite to capture the title again.
Dave Trachtenberg in the 175-lb. class scored a stunning TKO over Stan Halperin of Eliot House. Later, Charlie Bougopoulos, 145-lb. freshman, also of Dudley House, won a decision over Bob Merlo of Wigglesworth East. The two, combined with Jerry Bresnahan, Frank Corliss, and Jim Walsh round out the strong Dudley group to enter the finals.
Joseph Zapustos of the Massachusetts Boxing Commission, reforce of the matches, said, "These are the finest amateur bouts I've seen in a long while."
