Paul Forand of Lowell House and New Bedford, Mass., was elected captain of next year's fencing team at a recent meeting of the squad.
Forand, a graduate of New Bedford High School had no fencing experience prior to college. He was a member of the freshman team, and has been on the varsity for two years. He has also competed in the Amateur Fencers League of America.
Next year he plans to have more informal practice meets for the varsity team. Forand succeeds Les Scherer as varsity fencing captain.
