Kenneth B. Culbert '55, of Dunster House and Boothbay, Maine, will captain the 1954-55 varsity wrestling team, a vote of the varsity lettermen decided yesterday. He succeeds Chick Chandler.
Culbert, known for his reverse cradle pinning hold, has wrestled two years for the varsity in the 177-pound class. This season he pinned eight opponents and earned a team high of 40 points.
Burris Young '55, of Eliot House and Baltimore, Md., will continue a second year as Varsity manager.
In announcing yesterday's elections, Coach Bob Pickett said that no Crimson wrestler will be at the NCAA championships held over this weekend at the University of Oklahoma, due to the excessive travelling time involved.
In the recent Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Tournament Culbert scored three points to place fourth in his division.
His wins enabled the varsity to place in a four way tie for eight place with Cornell, Rutgers, and Yale.
