The Crimson's championship squash team placed two men in the top ten according to national rankings announced yesterday.
Larry Brownell, number one man on the squash team for most of the season, was ranked sixth among the nation's intercollegiate players, while Haddon Tomes was placed seventh.
Roger Campbell of Princeton was ranked first succeeding Charlie Ufford, captain of last year's Crimson squash team. Campbell narrowly defeated Brownell last February.
John Brownell of Williams was ranked second, Bud Addis of Dartmouth, third; Steve Olmsted of Army, fourth; and Paul Rudzinski of M.I.T., fifth. Larry Brownell had upset his namesake John in the Williams match late in the season.
Behind varsity stars Brownell and Tomes in the ranking were Vince Townsend of Amherst, eighth; Art Hutcheson of Army, ninth; and Ralph Redden of Navy, tenth.
In the team ranking released yesterday, the Crimson on the merits of its undefeated season, was placed first. It was the second year in a row and the third time in four years that the Crimson topped the national rankings.
Following the varsity in the top five were Navy, Army, Princeton, and Yale.
During the past squash season, the Crimson went through its schedule undefeated in collegiate play. It did, however lose in outside play, in the All-America finals in Pittsburgh last month.
