The varsity hockey team, with Bill Cleary at last in the lineup, but now missing defenseman Ed Markonich, meets Eddie Joremiah's Dartmouth Indians before a strictly partisan Winter carnival crowd at 11 a.m. The Crimson will be seeking its second straight win in Pentagonal League play.
Dartmough is playing without last year's first line center Bruce Haertl, who acquired the bad habit of running into goal posts and was forced by injury to end his intercollegiate career last month. But since then, veteran Dan McCarthy has moved up from the second line, and now leads Green scoring.
The crimson recorded its only shutout of the year, 4 to 0, at Lynn against the Indians, Jan. 9. squaring an opening game 5 to 1 loss to the Indians at Hanover. But Dartmouth, on the Basis of home ice and on the narrow 4 to 2 loss to B.C Thursday night, rates about even with the crimson for this morning's game.
The long-awaited Cleary, previously out for scholastic reasons, will be at first line center with Captain Normie Wood and Dick Clasby on the wings. At defense, first stringer Mrkonich has been unexpectedly forbidden to play because of an unpaid term bill. Be is expected to be missing only temporarily. Today. Jeff Coolidge will probably team Jim Moynihan and Ned Almy with Tony Patton.
The freshman hockey team meanwhile will play at St. Paul's today
