Crimson Downs Tigers, 6-4; Will Face Bruin Six Tonight

The Crimson hockey team faces an unpredictable Bruin sextet at 8:30 p.m. tonight in the Lynn Arena as it goes after its fifth consecutive League victory and attempts to increase its chances for the team's first Pentagonal crown since 1927. Cooney Welland's sextet, fresh from a 6 to 4 win over defending League champion Princeton, last Saturday, is expected to be at full strength.

The Brown team, led by Dan Keefe, the fifth highest League scorer, held the Crimson deadlocked for two periods before losing 6 to 3 in the teams last meeting at Providence. Last Saturday the Bruins scored one of the League's major upsets when they edged Dartmouth, 2 to 1.

The Crimson's victory at Princeton, Coach Cooney Welland's only win on the Hobey Baker Rink, was the first time the Crimson sextet has been able to beat the Tigers since 1949.

The team, in its top offensive form, opened the game with a 2 to 1 lead in the first period on a fast goal by Dick Clasby at 0:11 and Bill Cleary's first of three scores at 15:09. Sophomore George Scragg, Princeton's offensive star, with two goals and two assists, netted the Tiger's first goal.

Three-Goal Spurt

After Princeton had tied the score at 0:29 of the second period, the Crimson broke loose with three more goals to clinch the game. Sophomore Cleary scored first from eight feet out on a pass from defenseman Ed Mrkonich and Captain Normie Wood soloed three minutes later to put the Crimson ahead. Jeb Bray netted Harvard's fifth goal at the end of the period.

The Tiger's goalie, Captain Blair Torrey, held the varsity to one goal in the last period, Cleary tallying his third of the game on a pass from Wood at 13:50. Torrey made 37 often brilliant saves in the game.

The freshman sextet, led by the sensational goaltending of Jimmy Bailey, nipped Princeton, 3 to 2, in the preliminary game last Saturday and tonight meets the Brown Cubs in a 7 p.m. game at Lynn. In their last meeting, the freshmen whipped the Bruins, 6 to 1.
