National statistics and percentages belie the true economic outlook in New England, Walter Raleigh, vice-president of the New England Council, stated here last night.

Speaking at the Career Conference on Regional Opportunities, Raleigh explained that 8,000 new industrial plants have opened in New England since 1939. "One million new jobs have been offered, exactly in pace with the 1,000,000 increase in population in the identical interval of time," he added.

At the same conference, moderated by Stanley F. Teele, Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration, Edward F. Blettner '28, vice-president of the First National Bank of Chicago, stressed "the fast-moving, dynamic economy of the Midwest."
