Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
The varsity basketball team should have "stood in bed" last night. Or at least it should have stayed away for the first-half of a nightmarish 73 to 52 loss to Boston College in which it fell behind, 32 to 7, at one point. The Crimson tried hard in the third quarter to make it up, but the closest it came was within nine points after six minutes had gone by. The Eagles won easily after that splurge.
The game was the varsity's poorest of the year, but it proved one thing. As Harry Sacks goes the Crimson. The high -scoring forward was bottled up by Phil Powell and D.C.'s collapsing defense and didn't score a point until the third quarter. He ended up with only four points for the night, compared to an average of 20 in his previous games.
Dennis Scores 24 Points
Bill Dennis played a fine game, passing, rebounding, and leading his team in scoring with 24 points. But six feet 1 inch Tony Daukas of the Eagles more than matched that with 29 points, while Tom Cullinane netted 13 and Powell 11.
The Crimson started well enough and led B.C. after five minutes. The lead changed hands twice after that before Daukas scored his first field goal to put B.C. ahead for good. In the second quarter the varsity went for seven minutes before scoring a point.
The Crimson took 42 shots from the floor in the first half and hit only four. Compared to this, the Eagles took only 54 shots all game and made 25.
Yardlings Take Ninth Straight
The freshmen saved some prestige for the Crimson by whipping the Eaglets, 72 to 49. The Yardlings have now won nine games without a loss. Captain Bob Dolven and center like Canty scored 16 points apiece, with Dom Repetto netting 14.
Coach Floyd Wilson alternated two full teams in the first half, after which they led by only 35 to 27. But Wilson kept the starters in long enough in the third quarter to pile up a big lead, with Canty scoring from almost everywhere.
