N.E. Resorts Report Good Skiing; Varsity in First Race Tomorrow

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

University ski enthusiasts will find good pre-Christmas snow conditions in western New England for the first time in recent years.

Big Bromley in Vermont has reported good skiing for the last three weekends and several other resorts also have had two weeks of early snow coverage.

The University ski team will compete in the Franconia Ski Club's annual preseason cross country and giant slalom races on Cannon Mountain tomorrow and Sunday. These will be the first ski competitions in the East this winter.

Among the 200 racers who are entered are top performers from Harvard, Dartmouth, Middlebury, New Hampshire, Maine, Amherst, Williams, Vermont, Norwich, and Paul Smith's. Ebbe Dane, captain of the Harvard team, will not race because of a leg injury. Otherwise, the squad will be in good shape with three of last year's letter winners entered. The team will open its official schedule at Lyndonville, Vt., Jan. 1.
