Pastor Calls Pusey 'American of Year'

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A Framingham minister Sunday named President Nathan M. Pusey as "The American Man of the Year."

He went on to describe the University president as the person who "proved to be the real nemesis" of Senator Joseph R. McCarthy.

The Reverend John W. McNeil of the Grace Congregational Church said that Pusey has exemplified that we can weed out and remove Communists yet still "maintain that freedom which is as precious to the genius of America as breathing."

The eyes of the entire teaching profession watched to see what Pusey's would do, the challenge of upholding freedom was a "spiritual one."
