A bigger and stronger Princeton freshman eleven completely outclassed the Yardling football team last Saturday at Princeton to hand the Crimson its second defeat in three starts, 21 to 0.
The Yardlings, whose longest offensive drive in the game included only two first downs, were never able to start their potential passing attack. Princeton, aided by several breaks and Crimson penalties, scored quickly in the first period and continued to add points in each of the following quarters.
A blocked punt on the Yardling 20-yard line set up the first Tiger touchdown. In the second period, Crimson tailback Walt Stahura was tackled in the freshman end zone to put Princeton ahead, 9 to 0.
The Yardlings came closest to the Tiger goal line in the third period, when Stahura connected with a ten-yard pass to Captain Tom Hooper on the Princeton 20-yard line, but a penalty nullified the play.
Princeton scored later in the period after returning a Crimson punt from its own 40 down to the Crimson five. The final touchdown came in the last quarter against the third-string Yardling team.
The freshman "B" team will meet Tabor Academy next Saturday, while the "A" team will finish its four-game schedule on Nov. 19 against Yale, on Soldiers Field.
