Council Chooses Oxford Debaters

David A. Halperin '55 and George M. Fredrickson '55 will debate a touring Oxford University team Dec. 7 at the Harvard Club of Boston, the Debate Council announced last night.

The Oxford team turned down the Debate Council's suggested topic, admission of Communist China to the United Nations, in favor of a philosophical subject, "Resolved, That progress depends on the unreasonable man." The Oxenisns declared they were tired of the Red China topic.

Since the budget of the Debate Council would have prohibited financing the debate, the Harvard Club donated the money to cover the expenses of the Oxford team. All foreign debating teams require a guarantee of $100 for each appearance.
