Eliot House Finishes First in Blood Drive; 2,400 Pints Promised

The P.B.H. Blood Drive collected 2,415 pints of blood in the week-long campaign, according to figures released last night by Co-chairman Charles S. LaMonte '56.

The result was very good for a peace-time drive, although the Committee wanted about 2,500 pints, LaMonte said. The Red Cross Blood Bank is chronically short on supply, but this drive will supply about three weeks' worth of blood, he added.

Eliot led the Houses in the percentage of contributors with 57 percent. Dunster was second, followed by Lowell, Leverett, and Adams. Kirkland was fifth with 40 percent, followed by Winthrop and Dudley.

The 250 solicitors also got 351 pledges in the Yard, and Radcliffe promised 209 pints. Collections in the Harkness Commons netted about 145 pints, and the Square gathered 227 promises for blood. Other sources and incomplete returns make up the rest of the expected total.

The actual blood donations, LaMonte said, will be taken during the week of Dec. 6-10. Students who pledged blood put a date preference on their cards. P.B.H. will notify the students when to appear for their donations.
