The varsity football team appeared to be in its best condition in weeks, as it scrimmaged the jayvees yesterday afternoon behind the walls of Soldiers Field.
Every member of the squad was available including wingback Dexter Lewis and center Jan Meyer, Lewis, troubled with a pulled leg muscle, has seen action only once this season--against Dartmouth. Meyer was a starter until he hurt his back in the Columbia game.
Meanwhile in official Ivy Group statistics released yesterday, tailback Matt Botsford climbed to second behind Brown's Pete Kohut in total offense. Botsford, who has played one loss game that the Bruin quarterback, has gained 690 yards--70 fewer than Kohut.
In team totals, the varsity dropped to second behind Yale in defense. The Elis were second, in offense, with the Crimson fourth.
