Cornell, winner of the Heptagonal cross-country championship, is a slight favorite to edge Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Michigan State for the IC4A crown today in New York's Van Cortlandt Park course.
Led by junior Jack Rosenbaum, who recently won his second straight Heps title, the Ithacans seem to have more depth than any of the other schools. Last year the meet was won by Michigan State, with Pittsburgh second; Penn State, third; Syracuse, fourth; and Cornell, fifth. Harvard was twelfth.
Crimson coach Bill McCurdy, disappointed with the team's fifth place Heptagonal finish, believes it can improve last year's IC4A finish. He said a great deal depends on how well Bill Morris can run. Morris, the team's number three man, has been weakened most of the season with virus attacks. Besides Morris, the other varsity runners entered are Al Wills, Don French, Dick Wharton, Dave McLean, Paul Beck, and Bob Holmes.
