Nick Platt stroked a pick-up crew to victory over four other shells in the varsity rowers' annual "Hollow Log Regatta" on the Charles yesterday.
Howie Cushing's eight came in second on the three-quarter-mile downstream course. An invited Union Boat Club crew, composed of former varsity rowers, placed third, while Carlo Zezza's and Nat Goddard's boats trailed in fourth and fifth places.
The winning boat was--Bow, Peter Nitze; 2, Ken Huggins; 3, Bob Dole; 4, Charlie Cunningham; 5, Sam Walcott; 6, Toby Baker; 7, Mike Metcalf; stroke, Platt; coxswain, Mac McLaughlin.
The winning time was 3 min., 59 sec.
