Wilde Is Named 150 Crew Coach

University sculling champion Derrick Wilde this fall succeeds Leroy Rouner as coach of the varsity and freshman 150-pound crews. Rouner gave up his come an assistant dean of freshmen.

Wilde, a second year law student, last spring won his second consecutive sculling cup. Though he has rowed single shells for the past three years, he gained experience with eight-oared shells as a freshman and sophomore.

In his sophomore year he was on the next-to-last varsity 150 crew coached by Bert Haines. That same spring he also won the 150-pound University singles championships.

Wilde is the third part-time 150-pound coach since the retirement in 1952 of Bert Haines, lightweight coach since 1921.
