Widener Catalog Gets Thousand Card Trays At Expense of $12,000

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A thousand new trays, with capacity for a million cards, have been added to the Widener library upstairs catalog at a cost of about $12,000, it was announced yesterday.

The additions bring the normal capacity of the catalog to five million cards, but library officials note "we can squeeze in another million in a pinch."

Before the additions, the catalog was overcrowded; the last previous expansion was made in 1929.

Card trays comprised the largest part of the expansion cost--$10,000. Labels, preliminary planning, and actual labor made up the rest of the expense.
