The varsity football team, facing another passing opponent in Dartmouth Saturday, drilled on pass defense yesterday at a long workout which concluded under the Soldiers Field lights.
Warty of Indian quarterback Bill Beagle, Coach Lloyd Jordan sent his first team through an almost entirely defensive workout, while the second and third elevens scrimmaged against each other, and then versus the freshmen.
Missing from the second squad lineup was quarterback Joe Conzelman, who suffered a bumped shoulder in Monday's workout. He is expected back later in the week.
Still out were wingbacks Bob Cowles and Dexter Lowis. Cowles may be back today, but Lowis probably will not be available to face Dartmouth.
Orville Tice, key lineman who reinjured an ankle in the Columbia game, is coming along rapidly, Jordan said, but it is not yet known whether he will be able to play Saturday.
