Those 110 freshmen who have signed up for the newly formed freshman organized hockey league will begin play Feb 2. Six teams of 18 or more men will represent at least two dormitories each.
There has been no freshman league this year prior to the formation of the present one. The movement for Yardling hockey was started by two hockey enthusiasts, John Read and Steve Hamlet.
Team captains, who will be elected shortly, will form a council to make schedules and rules for the league. The new outdoor hockey rink will be available every afternoon for those teams that wish to practice, and freshmen will have the rink reserved for them for league play.
Read emphasized that this new hockey league is in no way connected with the freshman intramural athletics program.
