Every member of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences will receive a copy of last week's testimony of Wendell H. Furry, associate professor of Physics, and Leon Kamin '45, researcher in Social Relations, Dean Bundy revealed yesterday.
Although this move led to speculation that the Corporation might reopen the case of the two men, Dean Bundy emphasized that he was taking this action on his own initiative. He said that the Corporation, though approving his procedure, had not yet made any move of its own on the basis of the testimony before Senator McCarthy a week ago.
Equal Distribution
"Since Faculty members received copies of the testimony when the Fifth Amendment was used, I thought it only fair that this changed testimony should get equivalent distribution," Bundy said. He referred to the fact that both witnesses had waived all privileges under the Fifth Amendment in their latest hearing.
The testimony will be distributed within the next week. In the statement of May 19, 1953, which placed Furry on three years' probation for "grave misconduct," the Corporation said:
"If, at any time during that period, because of Dr. Furry's future conduct or because of contrary evidence as to his past conduct, we should deem it to be for the best interests of the University to remove him, we will do so."
