Despite strong protests, housemasters are virtually certain to give final approval to restrictions in football Saturday parietal hours at their meeting tonight.
Over 400 upperclassmen this week signed petitions asking the masters not to cut the Saturday deadline during the football season from 11 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On Monday, Elliott Perkins '23, master of Lowell House, revealed that the housemasters had informally agreed on the Saturday night restriction last December, but "through an oversight" had not made it public.
Tonight's meeting, Perkins said yesterday, is aimed at "reconsidering" last year's agreement, but simply at "making sure all the housemasters understand the parietal situation completely." He said he very much doubts that any revisions would be made.
A few masters are known to favor some liberalization of last year's agreement, but it is highly unlikely that their view will prevail tonight.
The only revision which will probably be made is the exception of away game Saturdays from the new 8 p.m. deadline. The away games this year are at Columbia on October 17 and at Yale on November 21.
Perkins also said a formal vote on the issue tonight would definitely bind all the housemasters on the parietal issue. Earlier it had been thought that there might be a variation in the rules from house to house because the different housemasters are know to have somewhat differing interpretations of last year's agreement.
