College Will Start Furniture Change

A program of almost complete renovation of undergraduate dormitory furniture will start by the end of the year, it was learned last night.

Building manager Arthur D. Trettenberg has already met with President Pusey, housemasters, and senior tutors over a project that will replace most of the chairs, desks, bureaus, and tables now used in all the Houses.

Trottenberg said last night that complete change would probably be slow and that some of the current furniture might be saved.

"We're still deciding exactly what kind of furniture to use. I've been looking it over with the purchasing agent. We don't know if it's to be modern design, but it will be simple and restrained."

Trottenberg declined last night to estimate the cost. "We're in much too nebulous a state right now to take a guess," he said.
