Two of the varsity baseball team's rained-out games, both Eastern League contests, have been re-scheduled, and by winning both, the Crimson could finish in second place.
The nine will play second-place Princeton on June 5 at Yale's neutral field, and the Crimson-Yale game here June 10 has been designated a league game to make up for a previous rain-out here.
The Crimson now owns a four-win three-less record. By defeating both Yale and Princeton, which have identical five-win two-less one-tie records, it could move into second, behind Pennsylvania in final standings.
Penn Batter Leads
If the varsity loses either game, the winner will have to play Howie Dallmar's Quakers for the title. Dallmar, by coaching the championship baseball team, would become the first coach to win both the Ivy basketball and baseball championships in the same year.
Penn is leading in individual statistics as well as league standings. First baseman Joe Golden is leading Ivy hitters with a .455 mark in eight games. Columbia's Leo Bookman is second with a .452 average. No Crimson batter is among the Ivy League leaders.
Karl Hey, ace Penn pitcher, is leading circuit hurlers with a four-one record. He has struck out 49 to lead in that department, and has compiled a phenomenal 0.98 earned run average.
The Crimson's Bob Ward is fourth in league pitching. Ward has won two, lost two, and has compiled a 2.00 ERA. He has fanned 24 and walked 17.
