After a morning at the Medical School and an evening dinner at Eliot House, the Overseers still have done nothing to cure the University of its acute case of curiosity.
This morning at 11, the today meeting continues, but educated guesses all point to no president this time.
If, however, the Overseers do got a name from the Corporation today, the CRIMSON is prepared to have an extra on the streets within a few hours.
May Wait Until Fall
If no president is picked today, the odds are that the University will have to wait until next fall. The Overseers meet next on Commencement. After that, there is a long wait until the October gathering. At any time, however, a meeting may be called within six days notice.
This morning, the Overseers meet in the faculty meeting room at University Hall. The Corporation has no scheduled meeting, but it can be called to session at any time.
It is possible that the Overseers might be given a name without having it released to the public. This is considered unlikely, because, as one officials put it: "As soon as the Overseers know, no one will be able to keep the name quiet."
Actually, it will take two meetings of the Overseers to ratify a presidential choice. When President Conant was elected, however, the news was released after the first meeting.
