Garber Privately Tells Faculty That Harvard Must Rethink Messaging After GOP Victory
After a lost Weekend, the varsity baseball team faces a late dinner today, following a game with Cornell on Soldiers Field at 4:55 p.m. The Crimson lost to Army Friday, 2 to 1, and to Columbus, 5 to 6, Saturday.
Lack of hitting made the two Ivy league losses inevitable. A combined services ROTC drill makes the late game time necessary.
The Crimson collected five hits at Army, but only Bob Smith could make his count-he singled Tim Wise home in the seventh Inning with the one varsity tally.
Cadet hurler Frank Lecates scattered the other safeties, and his teammates bunched three singles in the third inning for the two Army runs.
Two Hits and No Score
In the Columbia game, the Crimson could get only two hits, much class score. Don Butters beat out a bunt in the second, and Walt Greeley lined a single to counter in the ninth for the only hits off Columbia's Jack Rohan, starting his first Ivy league game.
Coach Stuffy McInnis probably will start his regular lineup against Cornell, with the exception of Bob Smith, recently returned to the lineup. Smith pulled his previously injured leg muscle against Columbia, and will be out for the rest of the week. Andy Ward, who went the route against the Cadets, will probably be the starter for the varsity.
