The varsity golf team should have little trouble with Brown this afternoon at Providence. Coach Josh Williams' team easily beat Wesleyan, 5 to 2, Saturday, and the Cardinals beat the Bruins by a similar score earlier this season.
Sophomore Jim Jones, playing number six, shot a 71 to take medalist honors for the Crimson, and beat Brown's Jeff Rockhart, 7-5. Another sophomore, Ted Cooney, scored a 73 to take Wesleyan number one man Bob Carsier, one up. Jack Brophy shot a 72 in his number three slot to beat Jim Smith 6-4. Five man Pete Malkin was the other Crimson winner, defeating Jim Steller 2-1.
Captain Dave Hedberg, in number four position, lost to the visitors' John Wright, 6-5, and Doug Boyd was edged by Wesleyan's Hank Brunner, one up.
