Yale College May Undergo Revision

Reorganization of Yale College seemed a likely possibility yesterday.

Speculation followed the unusually brief appointment extension of Eli freshman dean Norman S. Buck. The term of office for Yale deans is usually five years, but Buck was reappointed for only one-year term.

In New Haven, the likeliest explanation of his brief extension was that Yale College and the Freshman Year might be incorporated into a single unit under a central dean's office.

At present, Yale operates of the same system that is used at Harvard. The freshman year is a unit separate from the rest of the College, with its own administrative and advisory staff.

Under the possible reorganization scheme, the freshman dean's office would probably be abolished and the staff incorporated into the College office.
