There are many ways to show international friendship and understanding. One of the most usual is an exchange of monuments. France gave America the Statue of Liberty; America gave Britain a treasured statue of Lincoln; and so on. That is why the recent gift of the Lampoon to the Soviet Government of one of its most treasured possessions is a firm step forward in the path to peace. We thank the Lampoon for letting us do the official honors, knowing full well that if they could have made the trip, they would have done it themselves. World peace deserves no less.
