Faculty Puts Off Vote on Language Credits Revision

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Hot debate on the "anticipatory credit" clause in the newly-proposed amendment to the language requirement yesterday forced the faculty to put off voting on the question until its next meeting on April 14.

Opinion was sharply divided on the controversial proposal to grant half-course credit toward the A.B. degree for scores of 650 to 699 on the College Boards and full-course credit for scores of 700 or over.

The amendment, presented by the Committee on Educational Policy, also calls for the abolition of the Proficiency Test which the committee terms "inoperative and impracticable." It adjusts the amount of college work in a language for those not exempted on admission according to the school preparation of the student.
