Widener to Construct New Reference Desk

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Plans for a new reference desk in the main reading room of Widener Library were announced yesterday by Douglas W. Bryant, administrative assistant to the Harvard College libraries.

The new desk will be situated in the southeast corner of the room, next to the door leading into the catalog room. The old U-shaped desk in the center of the room will be removed.

The department of buildings and grounds will install the desk immediately after June commencement. An estimate of the cost of the construction is not yet available.

Bryant described the new desk as an efficiency measure to make the reference librarians more accessible to students using the main catalog.
