Delivery of a special freshman issue of the "Funster," Dunster House newspaper, was cancelled over the weekend by the House Committee, because of the "questionable taste," of two stores.
Particularly objectionable, according to the Committee, was a parody on the House's tutors, bylined by "Stan Kilometers" a play on the name of the House's Allston Burr Senior Tutor, Carroll F. "Stan" Miles.
Another story, about Dunster spirit, was also termed in poor taste by the Committee. According to the story: "No one is a stranger in Dunster House. No matter how queer you are it will not be long before you find another just as queer as yourself."
A spokesman for the paper said last night that he hoped another issue would soon be printed, with the passage about "queers," omitted, and the tutor story completely rewritten. A shortage of funds, however, may force cancellation of the reprint.
The tutor story said: "As if it were not enough that the students are forced into contact with the faculty each morning and afternoon, it is now impossible to play a quiet game of pool or table tennis without encountering a friendly tutor horning in on the game, breaking the pool cues, and table tennis paddles, and to top it off, beating the Dunster men at their own game."
The article concluded that the House system had produced tutors "who are completely without aloofness, without reserve; without dignity, without self-respect."
