Captain Johnny Lee and four other Crimson wrestlers scored first triumphs yesterday afternoon in the preliminaries of the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships at Princeton.
Lee, wrestling at 123 pounds, scored the Crimson's only pin of the day, against Eugene Casserno of Rutgers in 4:22 with a double armlock.
Dick and Bud Adams each won their bouts. Dick defeated Richard Dillon of Princeton at 130 pounds 5-4, and brother Bud topped Nate Pound of Cornell 8-1 in the 13-7pound class.
Intramural boxing champion Frank De-war lost a 9-2 mat decision to Theodore Ferriter of Brown in the 147-pound division.
In the 157-pound class, Chick Chandler took a 7-6 verdict over Harvey Fitzgerald of Virginia. Teammate Joe Hubbard was downed in the 167-pound division, 8-3, by Mebane Turner of Virginia.
Ken Culbert, at 177 pounds, defeated John Keener of Franklin and Marshall, and George Bates lost, 4-0, to Jim MacAteer of Princeton in the unlimited class.
