Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Professor Wendell H. Furry indicated last night that he would be willing to testify a second time before the House Un-American Activities Committee.
"If they ask me back, I'll go," the 46 year old physics professor told newsmen upon his return to Cambridge yesterday. Furry had spent three days in Washington.
Furry indicated that he has made no attempt as yet to go before the Velde Committee a second time. He said only that he made his Washington trip to confer with his attorney and "some other people."
The physics instructor, who two weeks ago refused to tell the committee whether he is or ever was a Communist, went on to say he went to Washington only "to secure some advice."
Willing to Hear Again
In a recent statement, several members of the House Committee had indicated willingness to hear Furry again. They willingness to hear Furry again. They stated, however, that the Committee would probably not take any action until Furry had contacted it and indicated his desire to testify.
The Corporation decided Monday that it would take no action at this time, since Furry had assured it he intended to "supplement his previous testimony" before the Committee.
Furry made his trip ot Washington on the advice of both the Corporation and Faculty Committee. It is known that while there he consulted with a new lawyer on the possible implications of a second appearance before the House Committee.
Chairman Velde has been under criticism from other members of the House during the past few days for "carelessness" in handling the probe of alleged Reds.
