Skiers at Lyndonville Face Hazardous Test Without Aid of Dixon

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

There is no joy in Lyndonville for Crimson skiers preparing to enter the season's most important competition. The team's best four-event man, Neil Dixon '55, is sidelined with a dislocated shoulder suffered in practice last weekend.

Only a week ago the Crimson would have been the favorite in the nine team field. Now, as Coach Graham Taylor feels, our skiers will be "very fortunate" to place.

Harvard and the other eight contenders are in the junior division of the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association. The top two teams at Lyndonville will graduate into the senior division.

Six of the Crimson's eight positions will be filled by Harry Gardner, Ernest Dane, Steve Reynolds, Johan Andreson, Hans Vitzthum, and Fred Churchill. Gardner and Andreson are the team's stars in the downhill and cross-country respectively.

The team must show well if it is to gain major Eastern recognition. Its only other well-attended meet so far has also been at Lyndonville.
