Fund Council's near-record of $527,903 given by alumni, added to the $389,627 collected earlier in the year from the Graduate Schools, brings the total of all annual giving at Harvard to a record $917,530, David T. W. McCord '21, executive secretary of the Council, announced yesterday.
These gifts are unrestricted funds collected annually through class agents.
An all time high of 24,718 alumni contributed to the fund, with an average gift of $33.75, up more than nine dollars over last year. This was the highest increase of the four Ivy League colleges, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Yale. Only Yale's total of $1,015,418 topped Harvard of these four.
This is the second year the Fund has been decentralized, each school running its own drive.
