The Freshman Union Committee voted to extend the deadline for submitting Smoker Committee petitions from tonight until 8 p.m. Friday at its weekly meeting last night.

Union Chairman Jimmie Sikes '57 said the reason for this action was that only three freshmen had turned in petitions. He explained that 20 or more petitions usually are expected.

Smoker Election Committee Chairman Peter Stern '57 said there will be a meeting of all prospective nominees tomorrow night.
