Building Commences On Educational TV

Testing engineers broke ground on top of the Blue Hills at 9:15 a.m. yesterday in the first construction on the Lowell Institute Co-operative Broadcasting Company's television tower.

Their actions represented the crystallization of plans long in the offing for the construction of a television station that will be used only for educational purposes. The Lowell Institute operates FM station WGBH in co-operation with ten educational institutions, and these same institutions will run the TV station.

Construction of the new tower and station facilities will not be completed until sometime next year.
