Win Over Yale Today to Redeem Poor Season for Soccer Varsity

A Crimson victory over the Blue or a Yale victory over Harvard reclaims the worst of seasons for either team. The Crimson and Blue soccer teams will be out to reclaim their most mediocre seasons in the recent past today when they clash in a 2 p.m. game at New Haven.

Yale has lost six of its last eight games and has won only three games all fall. The Crimson has a record of six losses and only four wins. The Big Three Championship rests securely in Nassau.

But sheer tradition and Yale's determination to avenge the startling 3 to 2 upset which foiled their quest for a perfect record last year promise to make today's meeting exciting fare for the anticipated gathering of 800 fans at Walter Camp Field.

Coach Bruce Munro thinks he may have found the answer to his team's scoring doldrums by playing both forward and halfback lines up closer to the cage. He did it in the Brown game and came up with a 3 to 1 victory. "It's a change," he said yesterday, "to an offensive frame of mind."

Haegler Leads Attack

Left inside Marv Weiss, who scored twice in the Brown game, and center forward Alex Haegler will lead the Crimson offense. Dick Fisher will be at the other inside post and Godfrey Truslow and Grif Buttrick will be at the wings. Stacy Holmes at center, Carrie MacIntosh at left, and Captain Bob Dean comprise today's starting halfback line.

Juan Rodriguez and Hugh Sargent will start again as fullbacks and Pete Briggs will again start in the goal and Lindsay Fischer will again probably get in some game time.

Captain Alex Taylor, center halfback, right wing Bob Dennen, right inside Bruce Dennen and left wing Pete Kohler are the many threats in the Blue offense.

The freshmen will be decided underdogs against the undefeated Yale yearlings.
